Another offended person
Laura is able to track down another individual who had been wrongfully arrested by Officer Drake but later released. He is John, a middle-aged man with a story strikingly similar to mine. “He set me up, too,” he says in a firm voice filled with bitterness. Laura takes meticulous notes and asks him pointed questions, then asks if he would be willing to give a recorded statement. John agrees, knowing that his testimony could make a difference. It is a significant breakthrough for our case.

Sitting with Laura, he recounts in detail every injustice he suffered, concluding firmly, “Drake’s methods are illegal.” Laura hands the recording to Mr. Thompson, who listens carefully and recognizes the value of the testimony, “It’s valuable data, but we need more.” Nevertheless, the statement represents a big step forward. We are building a strong defense, slowly but surely.
