Their reaction is not long in coming: they try to discredit me further. In a press release, the police claim to have “new evidence” that would link me to the crimes, an obvious desperate attempt to save face. “They are desperate,” Laura comments, rolling her eyes. Meanwhile, articles questioning my integrity multiply on social media, and each new unfounded accusation makes my blood boil. But I keep telling myself that the truth will come out. We just have to stay strong and keep our focus.
